Margaret Coker stepped from this world into Heaven, Saturday February 15, 2020. Her family was beside her along with the Bronte Health & Rehab staff.

Margaret was born in Oklahoma and bless her heart she was proud of that, but moved to Friona, Texas where she graduated and married Paul in 1957.
Margaret was able to stay at home and take care of her kids when they were in school.
Margaret and Paul lived in several places. From Friona, Texas they moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas. From there they spent time in Dumas, Texas; Scott City, Kansas; Hereford, Texas; Dimmitt, Texas; Ruidoso, NM; and Muleshoe, Texas.
After Paul died in Amarillo, Texas, Margaret began working at Bealls, then after a time in Ruidoso, NM near son Mike, returned to Amarillo and worked at Randall County Feedyard.
Margaret found out she had lung cancer. She had surgery to remove it and remained cancer free. However, she was diagnosed with COPD and she spent the next years in the Cleburne/Mansfield are, where she was near daughter Stacey’s family and son Mark’s family. Each year the flare ups were harder to rebound from stays in the hospital.
In October 2019, Margaret moved to Bronte, Texas to live with daughter and son-in-law, Shayla & Ross. She was moved into Bronte Health & Rehab where she remained until taking her last breath.
Margaret always was “put together”, she took pride in looking nice and being active.
She was always involved in all events especially to cheer on and/or watch one of her grandkids!
Margaret loved to sing and attend church to fellowship and worship her Lord & Savior.
Family was the most important thing to Margaret. She loved whole heartily and wanted to spend time with family. She loved attending family reunions and activities involving her grandkids motor cross races, go kart racing, football, volleyball and Starbucks trips with grand daughters and of course shopping. She was able to keep up with family & friends via Facebook.
Predeceased by the love of her life, Paul in 1997.
Margaret is survived by her children; Mike Coker & wife Loretta of Ruidoso, NM; Shayla Armstrong & husband Ross of Bronte, TX; Mark Coker & wife Christy of Mansfield and Stacey Ibarra of Cleburne, TX; her three sisters Betty Smith, Darla Shelton and husband Jerry, Barbara Grimsley and fiance Brad; three brothers, Gaylon Rhodes and wife Shelby, Wayne Rhodes and wife Judy, Howard Rhodes and wife Belinda; brother Cleatus Rhodes (deceased).
Margaret was also survived by 10 grandchildren and many grand dogs; 16 great grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Friona Cemetery in Friona, Texas, 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Bronte Health & Rehab 900 State St, Bronte, TX 76933
The family can’t express the gratitude they have for the staff that cared for mom at Bronte Health & Rehab along with Kindred Hospice staff.

When Death Occurs

Since most deaths occur in health care institutions such as hospitals and nursing homes, the attending staff may provide you with some preliminary information. If the death occurs at home, please notify the physician or attending registered nurse (if the death was unexpected or if there are any peculiar circumstances, phone the Police immediately). If the deceased was under hospice care at home, they should have left some basic information for you to follow. No matter what circumstance, our brief checklist will help you along the way.
